The popular and practical Just Whelmed “Wee” Workshop program is for academic women who are overwhelmed with demands and expectations – and who are ready to regain a sense of control, peaceful productivity, and joy in what they do.
This specially-designed series is for bright, educated, caring women (like you!) who want to focus their time, energy, and expertise on moving themselves and their projects forward.
Oh, and by the way, they want to accomplish this in a calm and confident manner.
Members will learn in manageable bits – that will not be overwhelming, I promise! The “wee” workshops, mindfully created for super-busy, achieving women who care about what they do and the people around them, comprising written materials plus a brief mp3 recording.
- Written materials to read, print, write on, underline, carry around, or whatever you like. They are yours to access whenever you need them for learning and inspiration!
- A brief recording (downloadable as an mp3) for listening right at your computer or to transfer to your smart phone, tablet, or other portable device.
Access either format in the time frame that works best for you! I have targeted and distilled the content into readily-applicable actions and practices, making these “wee” workshops pertinent and practical.

About the Just Whelmed Workshop Creator and Facilitator, Meggin McIntosh
Meggin McIntosh, PhD, known as “The PhD of Productivity®,” was a teacher, graduate student, university professor, and is now a business owner. Meggin says,
“A few years ago, I was doing a ‘Just Whelmed’ workshop at a large Research I university. At the end of the workshop, one of the faculty members announced that he thought all my strategies were great, but that he knew he would not apply them. Without hesitation, I said, ‘Then the pain’s not bad enough yet.’
There was surprise on his face – but it was the looks on others’ faces that let me know I had said something that resonated with them. Clearly, many of them knew the pain of overwhelm had gotten bad enough that they were ready to make a change.”
Here are 2 things you should know about me:
- I was put on the earth to help women. This is something I have known for at least 30 years. I like men (and even have one I really like who lives in my house). I also know my teaching has made a difference to many men over the years – and I’m thankful for that. However, my real calling is supporting bright, committed, educated women. This project is the first one where I have just put this out there! Hooray!!
- I wake up in the morning looking for learners and as soon as I’ve found some, it’s a great day! My second core belief about “why I’m here” is to teach. Frankly, I can’t not teach. Teaching face to face, via teleseminar, through a webinar, by writing, while coaching or consulting is all teaching and it all gives me joy and a deep sense of satisfaction! I am so glad that you are here to access it.
Why I Created the Just Whelmed Workshop
When I was a doctoral student and mentioned to my major advisor that I was going on a date that weekend, she said, in an accusatory voice, “How do you think you have time to go on a date?” Naturally, this was after seemingly unending weeks of working on my studies, writing articles, conducting several research projects, teaching my university classes, and preparing various conference presentations. The guilt I felt after her question was overwhelming.
A couple of years later, after trying to get organized (yet again) as a young assistant professor, adding to the unending to-do list, realizing that no matter how many meals I skipped or how early or late I was at the office it could not all get done, I looked around at my topsy-turvy office space and knew on a profound level, “I can’t live like this anymore.”
Continuing the push from associate to full professor, I still got up at crazy hours to write and work on my classes. One morning, as I got up at 0 dark:30 (as they say in the military) I knew I had been in bed far too few hours the previous night. I walked into my dining room, lay down on the floor, feeling nearly crushed by an overwhelming sense that I was shortening my life by the way I was existing.
Why do I tell you this? Because I want you to know that my quest for being “just whelmed” (vs. overwhelmed or underwhelmed) is not a new one just as I know it is not a new one for you. Since beginning to study this issue – first for myself and ultimately for my students and those in my workshops – I have learned a massive amount.
I’m blessed to know how to present ideas to people in ways that allow the ideas to be integrated and implemented into their practice. In this Just Whelmed Wee Workshop Program, you will benefit from my knowledge, experience, and talent for communicating practical and inspiring strategies for you and the other academic women (and a few men).
