Catherine Wehlburg. a mother and a university professor and administrator, suggests these policies to help keep her from overwhelm:

1.         My daughter cannot have two sleepover nights in a row.

2.         Sunday afternoon is family time.

3.         I must be in class 15 minutes before it starts.

4.         Birthdays mean cake. For everyone.

5.         I check voice mail messages first thing in the morning (before I even look at my email).

She notes:  These are just a few – and, you’re right, it does make it easier to call them a policy!
