Thursday, October 5, 2017

10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Pacific

11:00 - 12:30 p.m. Mountain

The requirements and expectations of your professional and personal life can easily squeeze out the time and energy you need to write.

When this happens, despondency and panic set in. Many professors talk about writing, fret about writing, and feel pressured to write. Most also have a deep desire to communicate their knowledge and passion by writing articles, books, and other resources for learners and fellow researchers. Unfortunately talking, fretting, and wishing rarely result in manuscripts or manuals.

How about trying a different approach?

Participants in this webinar will learn a dozen strategies to increase writing productivity by getting organized as an academic. These will include mindset shifts, actions to take immediately, and practices to adapt to fit your work style. All 12 strategies are designed for quick implementation with noticeable results.

Registrants receive:

  1. Call-in/log-in information to participate in the class ‘real-time’, if the timing is convenient;
  2. An invitation to send in questions to have them addressed as part of the webinar;
  3. Download of the class to access afterward for reinforcement, review, and support.
  4. An extensive packet of materials to download and and use in conjunction with the class.
  5. And more, of course!

You will leave this webinar knowing what to do to get organized for writing and being inspired to do it.  Expect a mixture of humor and structured practicality that will ensure a writing life that’s more predictable and peaceful.  We’ll see you there!

Meggin has a nice informal teaching style.  She understands the concerns of academics when it comes to writing because she’s “been there, done that.” ~Sarah F., Terre Haute, IN

Clear, wise, to-the-point, and backed with understanding and empathy.
~Linda Nilson, Anderson, SC

Simple and elegant, yet informative and entertaining.  That’s how I describe Meggin’s workshops.  I don’t know how she does it but somehow, she is casual with the right touch of insight and professionalism.  People could be intimidated by her confidence and yet, they aren’t because of her style and humor. ~Previous participant, San Antonio, TX

Meggin McIntosh, PhDAbout the Presenter

Meggin McIntosh, also known as “The PhD of Productivity®,” is a former teacher, university professor, and director of her university’s Excellence in Teaching Program. She is currently (and happily) the president of Emphasis on Excellence, Inc. and says,

My mission in life is inspiring joyful work.  Academic writing is part of what can be done with joy (or at least done with less angst) if you use strategies to help yourself plan to write.  Worrying about writing will not add more joy to anyone’s life and will not advance you closer to your goals.  If you could count your worries on your CV, you’d have to add lots more pages, but that’s not how it works!  Instead, join us in October for the very popular Plan to Write webinar so you can organize and sustain an academic life of peaceful, predictable productivity.
