Staying Positive in a Freaked-Out World – What Does Freaked-Out Look and Feel Like For You?
Lots of people are freaked-out right now – for a variety of reasons. Before you can start do anything about this – either for yourself or others, you need to identify and clarify what freaked-out looks and feels like for you.
Note: Let’s make an agreement right now that this exercise is for those individuals who are not usually freaked-out, i.e., being crazed and negative is unusual. We can all acknowledge that there are some people who spend their entire lives in a negative, freaked-out, ugly place. This post is not for them because they apparently like it there. But, I digress…
First, write down what freaked-out looks like and what it feels like. Be as specific as you can be in really describing the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects. What do you feel? What are others ‘seeing’ in you right now? Where are your thoughts? What beliefs are somewhat rattled? However you need to access these descriptions, stop reading and start to do some writing.
To complete this activity, spend as much time as you need to thinking, writing, reflecting, modifying, and reacting to the question, ‘How do you know when you are freaked-out?’ Nobody ever has to see this. This is just for you, so take the time and thought necessary to capture your ideas of what freaked-out looks, feels, smells, tastes, and sounds like.
