Pricing – Long Distance Book Club
Question:
I have a group of thirty educators in Indiana interested in doing a long distance book study about Differentiated Instruction. The books and registration will be paid by the school district. How much should I charge for thirty participants for a weekly webinar or teleseminar covering the span of a six section book study?

Answer:
First of all…YAY! That is great!!
Secondly, with pricing, I need a bit more info to answer completely.
- How much time each week (or whatever span of time)?
- How many weeks will this continue? It’s not that you’re charging by the hour but you need to know what amount of time you’ll be working.
- How much prep are you expecting you’ll need to do?
So, once you think about that, I would think that a teleseminar format would work fine. I don’t think there’s any need to go to the extra expense and complexity of doing a webinar.
So just send me a little more info and I’ll add to this post.
Thanks!!

More info from Michele:
The book study will be once a month, maybe an hour format, six months. Not much leg work on my part-just learning how to set up the teleconference and recording to place it on my website. Plus, I think I’ll open it up to my previous participants as well. Just wasn’t sure what to charge…The books won’t even be through me-the school corporation will do the ordering.
Thanks for posting it on your blog!

Response:
Woo-ee! Very exciting!
So with that additional info re the format, etc., here are some ranges:
- There is a tremendous amount of work that you will put in on this. I have been working on the 90-minute “Networking for Introverts” teleseminar that is coming up in a week. I have put in well over 24 hours so far in preparation. It’s staggering how long it takes when you are creating a learning environment for adults…your own learning, prep of materials, setting up the technology, etc. Ultimately, this will be about an 30+ hour task. So REALLY think about what you’re saying when you say ‘not much leg work on my part.’
I look forward to your response on this as well as the feedback from other MEMc members.
Thanks!!
